We are excited to announce that KCG Emirates has been awarded as a sub-contractor for 6 exciting new projects in Dubai; Al Khalil Avenue, Deira Mall, the Museum of the Future, the ICD Brookfield Palace at the DIFC, Jumeirah Gate and the Dubai Metro Route 2020 project!
A mega mall bustling with retail and entertainment activities, Al Khalil Avenue is located in an ideal location close to the fast-growing communities of Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Park and other emerging neighborhoods, ready to serve the increasing number of residents and tourists alike. Al Khalil Avenue will include 350 stores, a multi-screen cinema with 1,500 seats across 14 screens, a Waitrose supermarket, several cafes and restaurants, al fresco dining venues and a multi-storey parking lot with 4,400 parking spaces. It will also include a 256-room hotel directly connected to the mall. The scope of work that KCG Emirates will be contributing to the project includes car park floor coating and anti-carbonation systems using FOSROC products.
Deira Mall, on the other hand, is another exciting retail project that is set to be the biggest mall in the Middle East. With a size of 700,000 square meters, Deira Mall will be the centerpiece of the surrounding towers and boulevards, and will be one of the biggest and most scenic retail, lifestyle and entertainment destinations located on Deira Islands, Dubai’s oldest cultural district. It will include over 1,000 shops, cafes, restaurants and entertainment outlets. Deira Mall is scheduled to open in 2021. The scope of work that KCG Emirates will be providing to the Deira Mall project includes the installation of a substructure waterproofing system with the implementation of SIKA products.
The Museum of the Future is a unique incubator for futuristic innovations and designs and, with a floating form, windows in Arabic calligraphy and a space-age finish, one of the world’s most complex structures and architectural wonders. Opening in 2019, the museum is a key project for the United Arab Emirates’ upcoming developmental slate, and one of the utmost importance in the region. The nature of the work KCG Emirates will be providing for the Museum includes a substructure waterproofing system and a superstructure waterproofing system, both to be implemented using SIKA products.
The Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) is the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai, while Brookfield Property Partners is one of the world’s largest commercial real estate companies, with more than $65 billion in total assets. Its projects include award-winning programs in New York, Toronto and Perth, Australia. Located at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), the ICD Brookfield Place project is a 54-storey, 282 meter-high office tower and retail building that will be connected by pedestrian walkways. It will contain more than 900,000 square feet of Grade A office space and a 150,000 square feet, five-storey retail center. There will also be an 18,000 square feet public area flanked by restaurants that will feature regular arts and cultural events, and the complex will offer seven underground levels of car parking to accommodate 2,700 vehicles. The top three floors of the tower are being built as Sky View suites with internal gardens and the project has been designed with a view to achieving Leed Gold certification, a top-level sustainability and green building rating. KCG Emirates’ scope of work on the project includes the supply and application of superstructure waterproofing works and floor coating works for the car park.
Jumeirah Gate is a mixed-use 77-storey twin tower development which is set to accommodate a 183 key five-star hotel operated by The Address, 443 branded apartments also operated by The Address as well as 478 residential apartments. The development will occupy a prime location on plot 3920573 at the end of the incredibly high profile Jumeirah Beach Resort with a plot size of approximately 20,000 square meters, plus an additional area of 10,000 square meters of leased land for landscaping work. The project has an effective build-up of approximately 255,000 square meters, which consists of a ground floor, two podium levels which make up the main public areas, as well as service areas, and two twin towers with a total height of 310 meters. KCG Emirates’ scope of work on this project will include substructure waterproofing works, as well as floor coating and screed works.
The Dubai Metro Route 2020 project comprises a 15km-long line, of which 11.8km will be an elevated section and the remaining 3.2km underground. This project was specifically designed to accommodate Expo 2020, a universal exposition to be hosted by Dubai in October 2020. 131 countries are expected to participate in the exposition, with the main themes being sustainability, mobility and opportunity. The Dubai Metro 2020 Route is designed to cover populated areas in the city to make commutation easy for the visitors and the residents of Dubai not only during the six-month world fair but also in the future. Expolink, a consortium led by Alstom and including Acciona and Gulermack, was awarded the construction contract for the Route 2020 project. Alstom is supplying the rolling stock and will also carry out electromechanical works related to the project, while Acciona and Gulermack will be responsible for the civil works. KCG Emirates’ scope of work for the project will include anti-carbonation, as well as the application of epoxy protective coating and liquid applied waterproofing membrane.
