We are excited to announce that KCG Oman has been awarded a new contract as sub-contractor for 2 key project in Oman; the Omantel Headquarters in Seeb, Oman and the Mall of Oman in the city of Muscat!
Omantel, the Oman Telecommunications Company, is the first telecommunications company in Oman, having been established in 1996, and the primary provider of internet services in the country. The project spans about 45,000 square meters and will be situated in the Business Park of Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, a major business and touris facility in the country. The project consists of two office towers; the first, called “Sun”, has a circular plan form with a 30m diameter central atrium rising from the basement level B1 to the 6th level, with a glazed skylight enclosure. The second office tower, named “Crescent”, has a crescent-shaped plan (hence the name) and consists of 7 floors of office space. Both towers are connected by 2 bridges; one on the 2nd floor and the other on the 6th. The office towers are set to be enclosed within glazed aluminum curtain walls to office areas and insulated aluminum cladding panels. One of the key external features of the building is the woven stainless steel mesh outer cladding that is set to provide both sun and view protection. KCG Oman’s scope of work on the project includes epoxy terrazzo flooring using BASF products. Work on the project is currently underway.
Mall of Oman, on the other hand, is located near Sultan Qaboos Stadium, at Madinat Al Irfan, the new central business hub being developed by Omran (Oman Tourism Development Company) near Muscat International Airport. Construction on the project started in early 2017 and is expected to last until 2020 with an official opening following shortly after. The project has a LEED Gold certification target, which is achieved by ensuring electricity cost savings, lower carbon emissions and healthier environments. If that target is reached, the Mall of Oman will be the first major retail project in Oman to obtain this accreditation. The Mall of Oman is set to have 350 retail outlets spread out over an area of 135,000 square meters. Major attractions at the Mall of Oman will include a giant snow park, Vox Cinemas and the largest Abercrombie & Fitch store in all of Oman. KCG Oman’s scope of work on the project includes the application of anticarbonation paint and epoxy car park coating.
